Parks & Grounds Maintenance

Our Parks Service team works year-round to keep Racine’s green spaces safe, welcoming, and beautiful. From daily litter pickup to turf care and seasonal cleanups, our crews make sure parks, medians, and trails are ready for visitors in every season.

Daily Litter Pickup

Crews are out every day collecting trash and recyclables across parks, beaches, and medians so that visitors can enjoy a clean environment. During large community events and busy summer weekends, additional staff ensures high-traffic areas stay tidy.

Brush, Trees & Trails

To keep trails and open spaces safe, we regularly clear brush, remove weed trees, and maintain fence lines. This prevents overgrowth, improves visibility, and helps our parks stay accessible for walkers, bikers, and families.

Mowing & Turf Care

Hillsides, open fields, medians, and trails are mowed throughout the growing season to control weeds and maintain safe, usable spaces. Specialized equipment allows our teams to handle everything from wide athletic fields to narrow, hilly paths.

Leaf & Seasonal Cleanup

In the fall, we mulch leaves in parks and along boulevards, returning nutrients to the soil and keeping the grounds neat. After winter, we repair sod damaged by snowplows and salt, restoring grass areas for the season.

Year-Round Care

No matter the season, our crews perform regular upkeep tasks that keep parks healthy and inviting—like removing storm debris, checking picnic areas, and ensuring pathways are open and safe.
