The Finance Department supports the Mayor’s Office by preparing the annual budget, overseeing and managing the City’s daily financial operations to ensure compliance with approved appropriations and policies, analyzing the potential fiscal impact of proposed City initiatives, and evaluating the likely effects of both adopted and proposed Federal and State legislation, regulations, and administrative codes.
Finance Department staff also assist auditors in preparing the annual audit and provides guidance and policy coordination to City personnel. The Finance Director advises the Mayor, City Administrator, and the Finance & Personnel Committee on recommended updates to accounting policies and procedures.
In addition, the Finance Department maintains the City’s general accounting records and oversees both the Payroll and Purchasing Divisions.
